No surprises here: A National Post article, using info from expert Mark Blumberg, details that CRA audits have dropped from 800-ish in 2010-2015, down to just over 200 in 2019 (prior to Covid.)
This isn’t a surprise, as we’ve seen the same substantial decrease in public company audits by CRA as well.
More of the same it seems: Bigger budgets, but with less work done and less tax recoveries completed. CRA has a tough job for sure, but these starts are starting to become a real black eye for Ottawa.
